Modern European Home by Amethyst x Bickimer Homes

New Construction Bickimer Homes Modern European Style

We collaborated with Bickimer Homes of Kansas City to furnish their latest European modern-style show home. Julie Bickimer & team had beautiful, coast inspired selections like natural quartzite counters, plaster range hood and cast stone fireplace details.

It is always such a joy to partner with a builder who is intentional about each detail and we were able to take their finished home and layer in beautiful furniture, handmade rugs, and unique Europe inspired art throughout.

Modern European New Construction Design Styling

Every detail in this show home was tailored to tell a beautiful story about the possibilities for the future family that lives there. We envisioned a family who loves to travel, read, cook together, and have their home feel like a sanctuary.  Bickimer Homes used stunning Visual Comfort lighting throughout the spaces which gave a grand feeling.

Butler's Pantry

This floor plan is really unique – from green pantries with special storage and matching drop zones to a really sweet room in the kitchen that has dedicated pet space like custom built-in food and water dishes.

Grand curved staircase new construction home bickimer homes

The pinnacle of this home is the incredible curved staircase. The architecture is absolutely stunning in person, making ordinary days feel extra special. The cast stone fireplace is a really amazing scale in person.

Modern European Styled Living Room

What is the Modern European aesthetic?

Think vintage wool rugs, down filled linen sofas, and sculptural tables.  It's about celebrating artisans and going the extra mile to make every day objects feel like art.

Living Room

Because of the incredible finishes in this home, we knew we wanted to take it all the way with the furnishings. Every furnishing piece has a European tie to keep with the modern vibe. In the living room open floor concept, we sourced a vintage Persian rug in earth tones and you can find a soft Turkish vintage runner in the kitchen.

Modern European Styled Home Built by Bickimer Homes
We placed a sculptural Mikado white oak coffee table on top of the rug, and the Roman cabinet in the corner. This cabinet is a really unexpected piece, it has an acid wash iron for a moody look and the scale makes it feel intimate for cozy nights in.

In the living room, we included *in our opinion* the best American made upholstery by Verellen and Cisco Brothers. These Verellen Damien chairs were inspired by Belgian design and fit the aesthetic perfectly. The Seda sofa is one of our favorite family style sofas in a soft slipcovered linen.

The layout of the living room inspired the chaise moment because of the grand curved staircase.  It's not a traditional home so we were excited to be more relaxed with the living room arrangement.
Modern European Bread Linen Art
The art in the living room is a vintage European framed bread linen layered with a larger piece entitled Code Grey art for a cool French abstract piece.  When we work with private residences, we often source extra special pieces beyond what you see on our website.

Entryway

Entryway New Construction Bickimer Homes

An entryway should make a statement as the first impression of your space and we really wanted you to feel warmth when walking into the home.  We love the caramel color of the Almeria rug -- its pattern doesn't feel trendy but instead timeless and artisan-inspired.

Entryway Modern European Style

Rather than using a console table, we opted for the Hawthorn rope woven bench. It’s fully functional to sit on and take your shoes off, and we’re obsessed with the organic modern woven details.

Primary Bedroom

Primary Bedroom European Modern

We wanted the primary bedroom to feel like a summer love letter to Europe. For the primary bedroom, we opted for a beautiful Liza Toasted Sungkai natural woven bed with Jaylen travertine nightstands and a sun-drenched Turkish oushak style Eloquent Cream Verity rug

Master Bedroom Sofa Nook

Our favorite:
One thing we really loved about this Bickimer Home floor plan is that the primary bedroom could accommodate a full-size Gidget Sheepskin Camel sofa in the nook, and it was a really fun element to lean into. We collaborated with Bickimer Homes to install sconces on either side of the sofa to curate a really dreamy reading spot for this future family that loves to relax, read, and travel.

Kitchen

Bickimer Homes New Construction European Modern Kitchen Design Amethyst Home

We love it when a home has a little bit of controversy. At first glance, the Saldino stools may not seem the most practical, but we love how cozy, durable, and fun they are! They’re easy to clean with soap and water. We opted for these stools because the backless chairs allowed the amazing reeded detail of the island to shine, and the tone of the sheepskin went perfectly with the island color. At Amethyst, we believe furnishing aesthetics should complement the architecture, not take away from it.

Kictchen built-in shelves and a natural quartzite slab

We are obsessed with the light fixtures Julie Bickimer selected. They’re the perfect touch and give the kitchen a whole personality. The kitchen also featured a plastered range hood with built-in shelves and a natural quartzite slab. We styled the accent white oak cabinetry with beautiful white dishes, bits of twine, serving dishes, earthy platters, and essential dinnerware to mix and match for Sunday night family dinners. Our focus was to utilize chaotic styling to create cabinets overflowing with joy for a family-oriented element.

Amethyst Vintage Kitchen Runner

Every great kitchen needs a runner, and we opted for the ultimate: a vintage rug. When working with clients, we love sourcing really special one-of-a-kind pieces - it’s our specialty!

Butler's Pantry

Butlers Pantry RunnerThe Bickimer Homes team design included a butler’s pantry in the floor plan. We styled it with functionality in mind from our favorite cooking spices and everyday essential ingredients. This Violet machine washable runner was perfect because it comes in a super long length to fit the space.  We were able to do two to match the drop zone and create a cohesive look.

For added functionality and inspiration, we added a fresh pressed juicer. At Amethyst, we style homes with pieces that give you something to look forward to, and we really want it to feel aspirational like you’re living the best version of your life.

Dining

Modern European Dining Room Furniture

The dining room had incredible windows and we wanted to really play that up. We opted for a Vienne square rug to go under the Cabrera wabi-sabi dining table and paired it with the most comfortable Cove chairs. At Amethyst, we love including dining chairs that are extra comfy to allow a great place to connect over amazing dinner conversations where no one wants to leave the table.

Dining Artwork

To tie into the French artwork in the living room, we included another Amethyst one-of-a-kind vintage framed bread linen.

Loft

Loft Furniture

This floor plan included a loft space for the kids to unwind after school. To make the place a cozy oasis to unwind, we included a Habitat double chaise on top of a really soft Moroccan-style Alpine rug to set the vibe. We paired it with an oversized Nordic white oak dresser for extra toy storage.

Office and Bourbon Room

Bar Cart Modern European

This moody old-school-styled room is one of our most memorable moments. It could be used as an office or a place to unwind and enjoy your favorite beverage at the end of the day. We did slipcovered leather swivel chairs, a hand-knotted rug, and rattan bar cart to set the mood.

European Modern Office Space

Additionally, we opted to include an artisan-carved Abstract media cabinet and topped it with a record player to carry through the old-school vibe. To really play up the paint color Julie Bickimer selected, we added a moody abstract Koi art piece. We are obsessed with the black art on a black wall. Lastly, we opted for the slipcovered leather Banks swivel chairs for an elevated Ralph Lauren vibe.
